27 Things I Learned at 27

  1. Do it scared, do it even if you’re trembling. 
  1. A crooked line is better than nothing at all.
  1. Rejection is redirection. It is protection, it is guidance. Rejection builds the path towards your true purpose.
  1. Learn when to give up on certain things that eat away at your light rather than help keep your flame alive.
  1. Be generous with yourself and give things time to flourish. A decade. A year. A month. A day. Trust that your patience will be rewarded. Treat everything as if you’re tending to a garden.
  1. Slow and steady. A pace that never betrays.
  1. Don’t forget that you have the power to curate and redesign your own life — down to the forks you use, the clothes you wear, your shower routine, to what you do for a living. Take advantage of the fact.
  1. The little improvements and steps count. You washed your hair today despite the fact that you’re tired, you took the time to moisturize, you cleaned your bathroom, changed your sheets, finally scheduled and met up with a friend, got up again and again — no matter how small, celebrate your wins.
  1. Don’t take on the responsibility to fix anyone because that isn’t your job!
  1. Develop a steel backbone. Grow thicker skin. Draw a line if you have to. You don’t exist to be anyone’s stepping stool. You don’t exist to merely be someone’s disposable bandaid.
  1. Open your eyes — the universe is quite literally talking to you with actual words if you just open your mind to its messages.
  1. Have so much love to give and express that it is genuinely insulting to you if someone wants to hang around you that doesn’t reflect the same energy.
  1. Be the first source of romance in your life.
  1. To cherish and to be cherished only!
  1. Your road is yours. Everyone has their own path and their own version of happiness. Just because a route worked for them doesn’t mean it will automatically work for you. Navigate your life by your own terms.
  1. The things that are meant to stay in your life will find you again, regardless if you’ve forgotten about it along the way. You can’t lose something you’re destined to have.
  1. Why are you chasing if it’s not running away? Why is it running away if it’s meant to stay?
  1. Work in progress. One step at a time. The imaginary deadline is nothing but an imaginary deadline.
  1. Your life is a mirror. Look within.
  1. Yearning is so hot, actually.
  1. Life is too short to not surround yourself with your favorite things. You can live in a fairytale if you want. No one can stop you from living your fantasies.
  1. Make sure every nook and cranny of your day is filled with thought and intention.
  1. Unabashedly. Unapologetically.
  1. You don’t have to be anything or become a certain version of yourself to be deserving of love. You deserve love simply because you exist. It’s as simple as that.
  1. What a marvel it is to be alive — to be able to look back.
  1. One thing I’ve tested and proven that I’ll bet my life on is this: When the time is fucking right… it rains. It pours.
  1. All or nothing. All for her. All because life didn’t end at 15.
